Together As One volunteers with food and medical aid

About us

Structured housing that ends homelessness, not beds that sit empty.

Together As One is a faith-based California 501(c)(3) public benefit corporation. We exist to close the gap between Los Angeles' homelessness crisis and the housing capacity that already exists, running structured transitional housing, tied to Coordinated Entry, that moves people into permanent housing with recovery, behavioral health, employment, and reentry support.

Mission

To create immediate, life-saving housing opportunities for Angelenos facing chronic homelessness by providing housing today and building housing accessibility for tomorrow.

Housing is the foundation, but our neighbors need more than a unit. So our model pairs housing with the services that make it last: recovery and behavioral health, employment and income, reentry support, elder and accessible care, and daily meals, delivered on-site and through clinical and community partners.

Our name

Together As One.

Our name is drawn from the words we say three times each day in the Silent Prayers, “Bless us, our Father, all of us, as one.”

It also echoes the moment the Nation of Israel stood at the base of Mount Sinai and, accepting their collective mission as one, declared that they would rise up to the call. Today there is a strong call, and we are fortunate enough to be positioned to answer it.

That conviction, that we are bound to one another and obligated to respond, is the foundation of everything we do.

South Los Angeles neighborhood

Our story

From observation to action.

Our founder spent years in Los Angeles housing and shelter development and kept seeing the same pattern. Real estate sat underused while tens of thousands of Angelenos slept outside. The barrier wasn't only capacity; it was coordination, operations, and accountability.

Together As One was built to fix that: assemble real housing capacity in one high-need catchment, run it as structured transitional housing tied to Coordinated Entry, and hold the work to measured outcomes, exits to permanent housing, not beds filled.

Since 2016, The Neman Group, together with a range of service providers, has worked on the front lines of homelessness in SPA 6, helping thousands of Angelenos move off the street into shelter and housing, including partnering with LAHSA on the City of Los Angeles Winter Shelter program.

Today Together As One stewards a portfolio of buildings in Service Planning Area 6, more than 50,000 square feet and roughly 500 beds, running strong, accountable programs and backing operators who run to the same standard.

Why we're different

Real capacity, run with discipline.

Our SPA 6 portfolio

We steward a portfolio of buildings, 50,000+ square feet, in one South LA catchment, so capacity is real and documentable, not aspirational.

Coordinated & data-driven

Enrollment runs through the LA Coordinated Entry System (CES), and outcomes are tracked in HMIS, the region's shared data system.

Dignity by design

Private and family-capable units, accessible design, and dedicated service and case-management space, built around the people we serve.

Built with partners

We pair our buildings with clinical and community operators, FQHC and behavioral health, SUD and mental-health treatment, and workforce partners, to deliver the full range of services.

Our properties

A real portfolio across South LA.

Partners

No one does this alone.

Our model is built on partnership: clinical providers, treatment operators, workforce organizations, and the public system that coordinates care across Los Angeles.

FQHC & behavioral health

Federally Qualified Health Centers and behavioral-health providers for on-site and linked care.

SUD & mental-health treatment

Substance-use and mental-health treatment partners for residents in recovery.

Workforce & employment

Job-readiness, fair-chance employers, and benefits-advocacy partners.

CES / LAHSA

The LA Coordinated Entry System (CES) and LAHSA, which match residents to housing.
